Was only a matter of time that Leopold had his own book....we were introduced to him a fair way back!
And can i say, i LOVE this series, and this follows it perfectly. The same style of writing, continuous storylines including couples from previous books, and a great way to see the many layers that Leo has.

We ended the last book, wondering whether Leo was on the side of good, or the sad of the dark....this book clarifies that he is very much one of the good guys!

The book actually opens with Leo holding the local Alpha, Hunter, against the wall snarling that he left a cub in the woods to die. Luckily Dimitri (Logan's Beta) is around to diffuse the matter before one of them ended up dead (which, on a side note, look forward to Dimitri's book - hes in this one a lot, so expect this to be next - yay!).
As it turns out, Hunter had no idea. Said cub was now in the arms of Logan and his mate.

On his hunt for the killer, he finds himself coming to Laryssa for aid.....and realising shes something special. She is. But shes petrified of revealing her true self.

One thing we do learn is a demon believes her soul belongs to him. it doesnt, but that doesnt stop him threatening to kill her if she doesnt bring him an ancient relic. Apparently only Layrssa can find it - being what she is.

Her relationship with Leo unravels well. His actions speak a lot louder than words, even when protesting he has no intention of "settling down" with any single woman.
He thinks he deserves to live a life alone, he believes he has a dark soul and has always kept to the sidelines of all varieties of society.
Laryssa however, doesnt see that. She sees a kind and caring MAN, and makes it her task to make him see that too.

So, what is this demon after? It cant be good, never is when a demon wants it?
But will Laryssa be able to find it in the short time span hes given her?
What connection is her to the parentless cub Leo rescued and has grown fond of?
And where will this little one end up?
Will Laryssa break the barriers Leo has had centuries of practice of keeping up?
And the big question...WHAT is she???

Im not spilling secrets - trust me when i say it carries on it true Immortals of New Orleans style!

At first I was not sure if I liked this series or not because of my own goofy mistake of reading book two first but when I read book one I fell in love with this author's writing and world building with her vampires and wolves.
Leopold is a dangerous vampire to be enemies with, he has been a vampire for hundreds of years and has the bad ass reputation to back up his actions. When the other vampires and wolves needed his help he was there, no questions asked. Agreeing to help he never would have guessed that he would be saving a new born infant. Hiding the infant from an unknown evil that is trying to kill her he gets all his friends involved in caring for the little girl who is part wolf and part who knows what.
Laryssa, a human with special abilities meets Leopold in a bar one night and is automatically drawn to him. The pull is mutual for Leopold who thinks he is too evil and damaged for anyone to ever love again. When he tracks her down he realizes she is way more than a human woman but he can't get her to tell him exactly what she is.
The journey these two embark on together is nothing short of a remarkable love story. The regrets in both their pasts keep them from trusting too easily, but once they both open their hearts to love it is an awesome full body awakening for them both. The bond that is built is truly a once in a lifetime love for each of them.

One of the oldest vampires to walk the earth, Leopold Devereoux is dangerous, sexy, and one you do not want to get entangled with. When he finds a baby left to die in the snow, it unleashes a rage Leopold has not felt in a long time. As Leopold vows to protect the innocent babe, he knows he needs help figuring out what is trying to attack the babe. Seeking out Laryssa Theriot and enlisting her help is a bit of an uphill battle. The woman who is holding secrets is one of few who are not afraid of Leopold, she is a rarity.

Leopold never wanted to be vulnerable again, he has kept his heart shielded and although some would consider his life lonely, he sees it as guarded. However in the last few months he has befriended a wolf and now has this desire to claim Laryssa as his own. He has a dark side to him though that he knows will push Laryssa away and even though he would like nothing more than to keep her, he has to let her go. Problem is Laryssa is determined to break down the walls Leopold has and even though she has her own demon to deal with, she needs Leopold by her side.

What a delight. I have been anxiously waiting for Leopold's story and it did not disappoint. Leo wowza, he is dark sensual and Laryssa is sassy and mouthy which keeps Leo off kilter. All your favorite characters are in this one and the story is unexpected and full of surprises.

3.5 stars

I probably liked this one the best if the series. Luca's story (#2) was my favorite, but Luca just doesn't have the charisma that Leopold has. And frankly, Leopold made this book and kept the series alive. He single handedly kept my same issues with the writing from seeming so annoying. He also added freshness to what was becoming stale in the series. I also really liked Laryssa and her paranormal twist. Hopefully, we see glimpses of these two in what I'm assuming will be Dimitri's story in the next book.

So simply due to Leopold I am upping my normal three stars for books of this series to 3.5.

For such an ancient, lethal, stubborn badass, Leopold certainly caved pretty quickly. Way too insta-love for me. Some of the descriptions were also a bit ... Gratuitous. ;)
