I found a list somewhere in here about books that were better than the movie. I think I'm going to start my own list: 'The movie is better than the book' list. This is the second book in a row that I find the movie better than the book.
I DID finish reading the book, but was a bit confused. Is it about Jack? Is it about the Whitneys? I felt that there was a bit too much going on. there were a few tight spots with dead ends. The author hashed his way out of them.
However, I understand the reason for this behavior. After all, this was his first novel.

A good story. Tense and kept on edge. But could have been more succinct.

This book is slow to start but then it get to where you don't want to put it down. There is some strong language but over all it is a great book.

This held so much promise for me! On reflection, I have rounded up a 3.5 rating to 4.
I didn't like where the story went - appreciate the author is entitled to develop and write how they wish but it fell like a lead balloon for me after this particular development and the pace had been perfect until that point - I was so invested. After this particular plot twist, I wasn't sure how how the truth would surface and where the story would go. Baldacci definitely recovered but it impacted my overall experience unfortunately and I lost interest.

My 2007 best-of-the-year award winner. My first Baldacci and the start of many more.

Engrossing crime / thriller. The characters were likeable except for the baddies & a plot with lots of twists.
