We've all probably dated someone like Stephen in some point in our lives. He's a narcissistic, cheating, manipulative, (in many ways abusive), sociopathic, liar. So if you're anything like me, you'll probably find yourself yelling at Lucy all throughout this book- as many of our close friends and family yelled at us in frustration as well. "WHY are you with him? WHAT do you see in him?? Can't you see what he's doing to you???"

Tell Me Lies is a messy, twisted story that shows the reality of toxic relationships, overcoming trauma, and finally getting over THAT guy. 

My biggest complaint (other than the stress this book caused me) would be that there is ultimately no real resolve, or I guess consequences, to some of Stephen's more horrifying actions. I suppose that is the way the world works at times though.

I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys Colleen Hoover's style of books.

With that being said, this book is not all just empty drama. It also deals heavily with mental health while getting into these real-life issues.

Very different from the show, and I hate the changes the show has made to both Wrigley & Evan's characters. Interested to see how it plays out though! ♡

I'll start by saying, definitely look at trigger warnings for this book before reading. I should have. 

Aside from that, when I started this book, I wasn't sure what direction it was going to go in. It was giving me tale of caution vibes, and I was correct. 

I loved the ending to this book. It was very healing. The author is correct in that we all have a Stephen in our lives at some point or another. I know who mine is and I can't wait for the day I have the epiphany Lucy does at the end of this book. 🧡

I wasn't sure how I felt about this book for most of it. I feel like I enjoy this as extended character study but the story was weird and disjointed. As others have said the ending is incredibly abrupt and out of nowhere. Ultimately I really enjoyed Stephen's chapters and inner world even if I vehemently disagree with it. I think if you like the show it's worth a shot.

The main character in the first few pages is fat phobic, judgmental, and overall a bitch and couldn’t put up with it.

this. was. genuinely painful to get through my god. i’ve never hated characters more (which i get was the point) but oh my god. unbearable for me personally. wanted to DNF at 10% but i persevered, regretfully so.  AGHAKFNXOANWIXBS
