Tribute by Nora Roberts
She has inherited her grandmothers farm, Cilla restores homes for a living.
The grandmother had committted suicide 30 years ago.
Her neighbor, Ford Sawyer, an author, Mr. Sawyer and his dog.
Mystery deepens when she finds some unsigned letters suggesting she was carrying a baby at the time of her death.
Love how she meets up with her father and they talk about her mother, she's on like her 5th marriage. He is happy she is back in the Shennadoah Valley again and they invite her to visit and have dinner.
The author next door pays attention to all the activity at her house.
Love the intriqic details of the miniscule renovations...
Love how he takes care of her by offering a room at his house and the use of his gym but when an accident occurs and her friend ends up hospitalized she takes matters into her own hands.
Hot steamy sex and the mystery of it all really make this an excellent read.

While I loved the characters, plot, and the surprise ending, I feel like this book dragged on a lot longer than it needed to. It wasn't quite written in a way that kept you on the edge of your seat. I love Nora, but I feel like this book could have been more thrilling.

Cilla is a long way from Hollywood and she likes it that way. She may have grown up in the spotlight but what she really wants is her Grandmother's farm and a chance to restore it to the glory it was. She loves the challenge of a home remodel and the memories and secrets that are discovered in this remodel make it even more special. And the sexy nerd living across the street makes it even more entertaining. Ford is intrigued by Cilla and she quickly becomes the inspiration for his next graphic novel but getting to know the woman behind the face is even more intriguing. As they do the dance and fall in love, the secrets that Cilla uncovered put her in danger. Can Ford help Cilla protect herself from a threat 30+ years in the making? Really enjoyable romantic suspense with a very surprising twist villain (at least surprising to me). Great read!

Not something I would normally pick up and I see why. Romance was the worst part and the mystery fell flat.

Excited to watch the movie

Edit after: The movie was somehow worse, great group experience

I really enjoyed this book. While it was fairly easy to figure out the "whodunnit", I really enjoyed the way the story unfolded to get to the reveal.

"Virginia's Shenandoah Valley is a long way from Hollywood. And that's exactly how Cilla McGowan wants it. Cilla, a former child star who has found more satisfying work as a restorer of old houses, has come to her grandmother's farmhouse, tools at her side, to rescue it from ruin. Sadly, no one was able to save her grandmother, the legendary Janet Hardy. An actress with a tumultuous life, Janet entertained glamorous guests and engaged in decadent affairs - but died of an overdose in this very house more than thirty years earlier. To this day, Janet haunts Cilla's dreams. And during waking hours, Cilla is haunted by her melodramatic, five-times-married mother, who carried on in the public spotlight and never gave her a chance at a normal childhood. By coming east, rolling up her sleeves, and rehabbing this wreck of a house, Cilla intends to find some kind of normalcy for herself.
Plunging into the project with gusto, she's almost too busy to notice her neighbor, graphic novelist Ford Sawyer - but his lanky form, green eyes, and easy, unflappable humor (not to mention his delightfully ugly dog, Spock) are hard to ignore. Determined not to perpetuate the family tradition of ill-fated romances, Cilla steels herself against Ford's quirky charm, but she can't help indulging in a little fantasy.
But love and a peaceful life may not be in the cards for Cilla. In the attic, she has found a cache of unsigned letters suggesting that Janet Hardy was pregnant when she died - and that the father was a local married man. Cilla can't help but wonder what really happened all those years ago. The mystery only deepens with a series of intimidating acts and a frightening, violent assault. And if Cilla and Ford are unable to sort out who is targeting her and why, she may - like her world-famous grandmother - be cut down in the prime of her life." (From Amazon)

I was not wowed by this novel. While I loved Ford I was not into Cilla and her family. Even though I gave it a low rating it is still worth a read if you love Nora Roberts.

This was fine. I know what I'm signing up for when I read Nora Roberts. But it drove me a wee bit batty that the entire mystery could have been solved lickety split if Cilla had just put up a damn security camera.
