Enjoyed it a bit more than the first one! What I disliked is that the characters are all written very similarly in terms of their voices (ie Ox and Geordi’s inner monologues and their reactions to situations are very similar). It feels like TJ has developed a lot as a writer since then.

While not quite as strong as the first book, this is still a riveting sequel full of angst and creative world-building. I came for Mark and Gordo, but I actually fell more in love with Team Human and Kelly and Carter’s sibling bond. TJ Klune writes found family really REALLY well.

I didn't like it as much as the first book. The first book had moments that made me feel so relaxed, so warm and giggly. This book didn't really have those moments. It was more tense, more sad. It was good. The plot was welthought out. But I just didn't feel the same bond with the characters. To much war. Gordo and Mark are fine. I was curiuous about their past. Now I know. A bit stupid. Heartbreaking. The big villain of this book was... boring? I snoozed at her speeches. Real trouble getting through it. Didn't see the contribution to the plot. I am going to read the third book. Hoping this one will be more lighthearted. I want to feel fuzzy again.
