I'm getting mixed feelings about this series.
I do love the main character: Shannon is an amazing, strong and very likeable female character. She feels very real, very humane... I would, very much, like to be her friend. She does the best she can with the options that are at her disposal. I feel that the reader can easily like Shannon and her, overall, crazy situation.
The world building is amazing: P. C. Cast is a great storyteller, capable of creating the most wonderful worlds and scenarios. I love her!
My problem with this series is the way the author chooses to chock us: the weird blood/sex rituals; the expressions that are used to describe body parts; that awful rape scene... what? Not to mention that, for such a faithful wife, she easily accept to cheat on her husband - Thank the Goddess the man was beautiful... I would imagine that if he was ugly she would be completely against the betrayal.
Still, I rate this book 4 stars... let's see what the third books is bringing.
