I went in not knowing anything about the story and soon found myself hooked. So much information on Anishinaabe - Ojibwe culture and customs. Fast moving story and well developed characters. Excellent ending. Many strong women throughout.

This was PHENOMENAL. 10/10, edge of my seat, indigenous drama meets FBI undercover meth investigation?? All in a YA book?? So glad this was a required reading for class bc I wouldn’t have picked it myself but man was it good

This book really had me feeling every emotion known to mankind. I was so angry, especially at Levi, and I was so sad for everything Daunis had to go through, I laughed at all the banter. I went into this one blind, and in the beginning I was doubtful if that was a good idea but very quickly I got wrapped up in the story. Daunis and Jamie flirting had me giggling and kicking my feet.

1. Who on earth is passing up the opportunity of going to UofM lol. Idc how much my family needs me, I’m going…. BYEEE
2. For a book that clearly takes a stance against sexual exploitation, I find it odd how the age gap between Daunis and Jamie was just… not acknowledged?? I know she’s practically 19 by the time the two actually get together but it’s still weird lol
3. Unless attitude and lingo was just completely different in the early 2000s, you can tell that this “coming-of-age” story is written by someone already Of Age
