oh my god. i loved this. i didn't cry but i got pretty close. this was just such a bittersweet little story told in epistolary format; letters written back and forth between man and a woman whose respective spouses are having an affair with each other. they piece together literal evidence of the affair and develop a special relationship in the process. i just thought this was so well done. i could see it working as a full length novel, but also think it works just fine as a novella. TJR got me again with another banger.

"I am not alone at this party. You are at this miserable party with me. And it brings a smile to my face."

I really enjoyed this! I saw it one day while browsing around and my library had an ebook of it so I went ahead and read it. I wasn't sure what to expect, and I really dislike reading about cheating, but I loved the way it was written. Having it all written through letters between David and Carrie was so smart. I also really liked the ending and how Taylor Jenkins Reid wrote the confusing and delicate experience of being cheated on through two different perspectives
SpoilerI was so happy when Carrie ended up leaving Ken, but I also appreciated the duality of David staying with his wife

I also liked how Reid wrote the characters and their experiences to fit the time period (I believe the 70's),
Spoilersuch as how Carrie and Ken's infertility issues just had to be her fault and there was no point of even looking at Ken *eyeroll*

I have truly never been more disgusted by someone as I was with Ken though lmao
