This was so good so charming takes place in Midwest mainly Minnesota. Foodies abound and there’s even recipes.

This book felt so homey to me, an Iowan with family in Minnesota and Chicago who loves bars

I almost want to take away .25 stars for the 3ish descriptions of women’s bodies that were so very gross to me. One being calling his wife’s body “lumpy”

There were some narrators I really hated like Braque and the bars lady yet I loved to hear how their hating ass personalities fit into Evas life.

The author did a nice job of incorporating poor families and poverty. You saw the judgement from outsiders but didn’t feel pushed to judge. Some people are poor, neutral fact.

I struggled a bit with the format and all the characters, but overall loved it. Recommended for readers who:
- are foodies+++ (don’t go in on an empty stomach)
- enjoy a series of interconnected people and stories
