Ford "Truck" Laughlin has been in love with Mary Weston for a long time. We've seen hints of that throughout the other Delta Force books, including the startling revelation that they were secretly married and had been lying about it. This book explains all of that. Breast cancer survivor Mary is having a recurrence of her her cancer and is going to give up because she can't afford treatment. Truck convinces her otherwise, marrying her so she can have health insurance and so he can take care of her. I really liked this part of the story. Their relationship was complicated but beautiful and seemed very real. However, since this is a romance novel, there had to be a cliched trope -- and Truck hits his head, gets amnesia, and then Mary has to make him fall in love with her all over again, without telling her they're already married. The second part isn't bad, but I would have loved to have read more about their real, pre-amnesia relationship.

Truck and Mary.
Truck and Mary's relationship has been brewing since nook 1 of the series, Rescuing Rayne, as Mary is a very close friend of Rayne.
Although we don't know details of her and Trucks relationship we have found out small things as we read through the series.
We know Mary has had cancer, a double mastectomy and she is incredibly snarky.
Truck loves Mary but I was wondering how much more he can take, then in the last book it was revealed that they are married, presumably for Mary to be able to continue treatment under his insurance.
This story fills in the history between them that we didn't see in the other characters books and also the development of their relationship.
It's quite an emotional read.

Hooray for Truck! I loved the wrap up of this series and the glimpses into our favorite couples' futures. However, I am just not a fan of Mary. I was hoping being able to get in her head would improve my opinion, but she was so wishywashy, even when she'd decided to be with Truck, I just... *sigh* But I still enjoyed the story and t h a t epilogue!

Well, I cannot lie... I wept... so much. This was just... just brilliant. I hadn't really warmed to Mary, but I knew that there must be way more to her than we knew about. And Truck? Always loved Truck. This was an emotional rollercoaster... and I clung on for every single peak and trough.

Then... then we got all those wonderful mini epilogues. Sighs... I love me an epilogue, I do. So... this particular adventure of Susan Stoker's has reached this particular conclusion... thank goodness that SS hasn't run out of words...

13/07/21 Exact same vibes. Love this.

I held off on reading this one, and figured I never would, b/c I hated how Mary treated Truck in the other books in the series. The only reason I did finally read it was that I had read *all* the other books in the series, and figured I had to at least give it a try to round it out! I'm glad I did!

The author did a very good job of redeeming Mary very early on. Turned out to be a good read after all!

I did also like the extended Epilogue on all of the couples from the series at the end.
