It’s a unique story, similar to n viro mental aspects but I enjoyed it. Well written and easy to follow.

i liked this one a lot, the world building was interesting. the pacing was a bit of a struggle for me, the book felt a little streched out at times but some of the more action-y parts were so fun to burn through.

This book was originally put on my radar thanks to a follower - I'm so sorry I can't find your handle in my DMs, it's been a while since we chatted?! We follow Csorthe as she goes from human sacrifice to sorcerer's right hand assassin, whilst following here through a maze of worlds.
Firstly, the world building in this was superb! I felt like I was in a video game where we follow the MC from one extreme terrain to another, whilst following quests and navigating different worlds. As an extremely image based reader, this definitely ticked my need to SEE the story. The characters themselves were diverse and I thoroughly enjoyed how aspect of the people's physical characteristics were slowly revealed. I had a picture of the main character and then Larkwood throws in a line about tusks and yellow eyes?! It felt like elements of the novel was slowly revealed to us whilst still having a fast plot line progression.
The reason I gave it four stars is because "the big revelation" was quite predictable and in the last quarter, when the plot became more romance sub plotty, I lost a bit of interest. Don't get me wrong, I love to see a bit of love. But sometimes I just want to follow a warrior into battle just because they want to fight, instead of always having to have a moral reason.
I would recommend if you are a fan of The Starless Sea or Gideon the Ninth. Alternatively, if you like ships which sail in wind, jumping through gates into different worlds/terrains, and/or hunting down a lost artefact.

A great method of worldbuilding without just hitting you in the face with exposition. Plus I like the competitive relationship with Csorwe and Tal, wish we got to see more of that. Tal is asshole, but man is he fun to read! Other than that, I didn’t connect with the characters as much as I would’ve liked, so felt like I didn’t have much stake in the conflict
