Very informative but I think it dragged on a little in places. Maybe needed a bit more spice but it is a lecture so I guess that's how it is.

One of the reasons I keep my audible subscription is the access to the great courses plus [now Wondrium] cataloge!

As I was searching for my next book while on my archeological history binge, this was suggested to me via good reads. Since it was already included in my audible subscription,  I thought why not?

This course covers various Civilizations in North America, up until they meet the Pilgrims. It was a really interesting lecture, sharing alot of information about trade routes, religion, and engineering in ancient north America.

There were a variety of technology and techniques referenced in this, to assesrt the lectures claims. It's interesting to see the same things pop up throughout the various  books on archeology.

This lecture I felt was very respectful to the indiginous people, and was very respectful of the right to say no to have archeologists investigate burial sights. It was also very conscientious of its wording.

I felt like this lecture series was a great way to learn about the ancient civilizations of North America. I had some knowledge a head of time, but this really cemented the foundation of knowledge I have.

Listening to this, I actually realized I had had part of this information for when the podcast Astonishing Legends covered giants!

This was fascinating and the author kept the content engaging and easy to digest. I found the companion guide to be incredibly useful in understanding the locations and technologies being discussed - and Holy moly is it thick. Easily a course in its own.

Generally when I'm learning about ancient cultures, the material is focused on sites in Europe or Africa, but this course opens my eyes to ancient civilizations that left their mark on the earth in my own back yard.

Super cool read and listen.

Informative, funny, engaging, and sensitive! Doesn't get better than that. The author also narrated the audio book. A large focus on the Moundbuilders and pueblo type cultures but covers PMW and NE coast briefly. Really neat lecture series.

I've listened to quite a few "Great Courses" on audible. This is one of the less successful that I've tried because key parts of it comprises descriptions of sites which are hard to follow in audio format. Other ancient history courses and found those did work in audio because of the names and stories that can be recounted. The North America history however doesn't have many written records, so seems to suit itself more to a visual format. I think there is accompanying reference materials, but I listen whilst doing chores so couldn't follow along.
