What. A. Twist.
This is my first read of Feeney's, and it did not disappoint.
This book might as well have done a perfect job in its narrative and pacing, and just setting up the right tension at almost every turn.
I must say the twist has a shock factor. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the ending.
I find myself genuinely liking the main characters (even though I haven't trusted any of them) because of how they're written.
For a stand-alone thriller, they don't feel crudely two-dimensional at all. It's refreshing to be able to look forward to their POVs.
Off topic, but I kind of dig the "exes-to-lovers" trope in it.

Written from three points of view: a police detective (Jack), a news reporter (Anna), and a third unknown person who is the perp and may or may not be one of the other two - that is the mystery. Anna and Jack are a divorced couple whose paths cross again while investigating the murder of several women in the small town they grew up in. They are now fifteen or so years out of high school, but the dead are all women who were part of Anna's clique during her school years. The twists right up to the end will keep you guessing. This is the second book I have read from this author written in this same style, and both were amazing!
