Slow start, but once you begin to understand the scale and importance that fungi have in the natural world, you can only become more and more interested in the content of the books. Its momentum ramps up to the end, leaving you feeling like fungi are the most under-appreciated field in science. Of course, it is easily debatable whether this is the case. But a lasting sense of appreciation for fungi’s pervasiveness and significance definitely remains long after the book has been put down for the last time.

This was incredible, one of the most interesting books I’ve ever read. I learned so much not only about fungi but about the past and the future of life. Really beautifully narrated by the author. Great book top 3 so far 2021

A thoughtful exploration of fungi and their impact on all life on earth. Sheldrake's enthusiasm is infectious, his word play is endearing, and his knowledge of the biological diversity of fungi is fascinating.
If you've read Mexican Gothic, this will connect some dots. If you haven't yet, it wouldn't hurt to give this a listen before you do.
