The one star is for the cover bc everything else was pretty bad…. Maybe I am not sophisticated enough to understand these poems but they made me feel nothing except slightly confused

Sort of interesting almost but predominantly second rate in that way that most poetry is. Wanted to like it but actively didn't!

I won this in a Goodreads giveaway. It was a pretty average collection for me. There were a few poems that I enjoyed and maybe one or two that I loved. But overall I didn’t really connect with it. The right person could really love this, unfortunately that isn’t me.

I have very mixed feelings about this poetry collection.
I think I have a handle on the overall themes explored within this book. There were, admittedly, quite a few poems that felt out-of-place with the themes I was picking up on, but I do believe I have a good gist of what the collection is trying to say, and it is a theme that I typically love in poetry.
That being said, though, the majority of this book went over my head. I'm not sure if it's because some of the poems teetered on being too abstract for their own good, or if there was something that I personally was just not connecting with. Nevertheless, though, there were quite a few poems that had me either scratching or shaking my head.

Despite this, I did have a poem that really stuck with me, as well as a few lines from another poem:
-the poem "THERE IS NOTHING MORE TO LIFE THAN THIS"
- and the lines "try to grow up in one piece" as well as "I decided / I decide / you can do pretty much anything to me" from the poem "A WISH TO BE POISONED / WHAT I WANT TO TOUCH I CLICK ON"
