Sophie Scholl has always been an inspiration of mine, from the first time I heard about her on a TED-ed video. I can't imagine the amount of bravery and courage it took to stand up against a regime like the Nazi Party. I feel that Wilson did a great job at showing Sophie's character, as well as Hans'. The others did get an okay amount of characterization (by which I mean showing their character as real people), just not a ton. I love the poetry, and it was written very well. I love that actual letters from the people involved were included, really showing us who Hans and Sophie were in their own words. I think that this was a really well written book, with the only thing I didn't like being that there was a German index in the back. This is really confusing having to flip back and forth, especially for people who are audiobooking, which thankfully I wasn't. Other than that, I really have no complaints about this book. To the members of the White Rose, thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for what you did and what you risked. You will not be forgotten. And to Kip Wilson, thank you for making sure that they won't be forgotten to anyone who reads this book.

I'm glad there's a good YA novel about the White Rose. Everyone should know about their bravery, and this accessible novel in verse means that more young people will. We have a lot to learn from them.

Fictional novel written in verse about the White Rose movement and two siblings who were a part of it: Sophia and Hans Scholl. A quick and emotional read about what Germany was like during the war, and how some Germans tried to fight back.

My new obsession is novels in verse now haha. This book was good though. A piece of WW2 history that isn't talked about a ton.
Graphic: Death and War
Moderate: Child death, Genocide, Violence, and Antisemitism
Minor: Adult/minor relationship

I didn't know they were real until I finished it. My heart hurts.
