So this book to me had a lot of potential because I like hidden passages and riddles like they were advertised - and luckily I got that and had at least a good time trying to also figure out what those were.

The main thing I didn’t like about this book were the characters and their interactions with each other. All of the romance that was there just seemed weird to me.
Grayson being over 18 and Avery being under 18 just gave me weird vibes when they were having ~moments~ together.

Because I really didn’t care for many of the characters or their storylines as it pertained to the story, I didn’t have as much fun as I could have. The twist at the end was odd and something that I wasn’t expecting - but the additional twists with the Hawthorne family wasn’t enough to make me want to read the next book.

I started this book with seeing only positive reviews of this book and I was not disappointed.
It was constant with riddles and mysteries, which were mind binding and gripping. Everything was thought out right from the beginning, with Avery’s full name and the Hawthorne brothers middle names.
Jennifer Lynn Barnes is extremely clever for thinking of this story and the different riddles involved. The thought and time spent on this book definitely paid of.
The characters were all unique, as they each had very different personalities, which made each character special in some way or other.
I thought that the writing of the book was quite simple and it could have been developed a bit more to add extra detail that would have got our imaginations moving a bit more. I also loved the fact that the chapters were short:)

Finally deciding to read booktok books this year. This did not disappoint.
I decided to listen to the audiobook on Spotify during my roadtrip to Toronto. Needless to say I was thoroughly entertained.

Need A fast pace novel to hopefully get you out of a reading slump? Then I recommend listening to this one. It also has sequels if you end up loving it.

Grayson or Jameson? That is the question everyone is asking themselves. Which one should end up with Avery? And I’ll offer you the only correct answer.   None of the above. Avery describing Rebecca as beautiful and gorgeous every time she saw her is a little fruity. The alternative would be Grayson and Avery. As for Jameson, he belongs with me 😃
