This book was really fun! I did not know what to expect going into it but I'm actually very glad about that. It's a fun story with secrets and twists and mysteries that made it very entertaining to read. Did everything always make total sense? No absolutely not, but that wasn't what I wanted from this book anyways. It deals with topics like domestic abuse and chronic illness but not in great depth which still makes it feel like a fun mystery book for a younger audience (though not necessarily just them). I am definitely curious to keep reading and to see where this story goes next. There are still a lot of questions that I want answered so hopefully I will enjoy the second book as much as I did this one. :)

While I enjoyed reading this, I didn't like the focus on Emily and her shenanigans.

Like a mix between The Westing Game and Veronica Mars if they took place in the Winchester House. Perfect mystery puzzle without any unnecessary scenes. Every clue is important throughout the story in one way or another. One of my favorites I've read and one of the few books I think is worth marking up a copy with notes and highlights to keep track of the drama! The romantic triangle is an interesting touch, again reminiscent of Veronica Mars. Doesn't disrupt the progress of the plot though nor hinge all the plot on that aspect.

I loved how short these chapters were. Anyway this book was not at all what I was expecting but it's really good and I'm definitely going to read the rest of the series.

I really liked all of the riddles and the mistery, and I alao liked that for me, as somebody who doesn't fit into the age group of young adults anymore the dialogues and actions of the characters weren't too cringey.
I also liked that the story was very engageing and allthough I'm usually not a big fan of books that don't have a set ending and are basically just smaller parts that make a series more digesteable I'm definitly hooked and I'll start the next part right away.
A very refreshing and quick read for me.

I don't even know how to begin this review, the book, in my opinion, was that great. After the last two books being two stars, I needed something like this, because it has gotten me fully back into reading. I wasn't expecting it to be as great as I considered it o be, but the moment I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. We'll start with the things I didn't like, which are few and far between and then go into what I did like, I guess.

So, it ends on a mini-cliffhanger. I say mini, because I saw that cliffhanger the moment our main character thinks about why she was given an inheritance. It was an obvious one to me, LOL. Then there was the fact that I hated how the elder sister would do something that was so obviously not a good move for her and her sister, and just -- it was heartbreaking. And lastly - there aren't any actual puzzles or games.

Did Like

1) THE ROMANCE, holy SHIT. This book is labelled as a love triangle but you know immediately who the endgame is going to be (even though we're not finding out in this book) just by the interactions that are had between the two characters. There's charm and intrigue, but it's obvious they care for one another, even though they just met, and are willing to think about one another.

2) The pacing and writing. The chapters are short, and the events move by quickly, but you know when and how it's going on. There's next to no confusion over anything, even though most chapters end in some sort of question - that generally gets answered relatively quick in the next chapter.

3) The characters. There are a lot of players in this game, but we know enough about every single character, even the minor ones, to not really feel any confusion about them, which is something I was worried about.
