I enjoyed this a lot! Emily Carroll's art style is right up my alley, I thought every panel was stunning. And the vibes were a perfect blend of creepy and whimsical. After I finished the first three stories, I was thinking about how each ending was written. As a collection, Through the Woods feels like a group of ghost stories told around a campfire. The endings cut sharp and abrupt, leaving a lot to the imagination. But also leaving a little bit to be desired, because I adore these stories and I want them to continue.  The suspense isnt a bad thing, just part of it.

This was so creepy. I absolutely loved it. The stories were good, the writing was AMAZING and the art was superb.

Carroll has a talent for bone-chilling stories and her drawings serve them perfectly. Every turned page makes you ask "what next?" and the answer is almost always surprising (and mildly terrifying)

3.5 because the art was really beautiful and i really loved it. visually it was 5/5 but the stories were underwhelming. there were a couple that i enjoyed but most were not very scary and just seemed underdeveloped and not super engaging. i wish i had liked them as much as the art.

Graphic novels with short stories cut off at the right (or wrong?) moment.

So I'm not really sure how I managed to get this far in my life without encountering Emily Carroll.

She's so very much my thing.

I'm not sure where I initially read about Through the Woods, but the moment I did, I ordered it. Fairy-horror tales, replete with gruesome and haunting images. Dark threads, creepy images, bleak rooms and landscapes.

Just be sure not to mistake this for a children's book. The words are as strong as the images, and the book could survive with one element and not the other, which makes their marriage a beautiful and grisly world.
