I love this series and this has to be the best book in the series. A bit on the long side there are things that could have possibly been left out. For example, going on and on and on some more about how much Cal and Mare want to be together but “can’t”. If Cal would have just gotten over him self and told his Nanabel to shove off the book probably would have been at least 100 pages shorter.
Another thing I really didn’t get was way keep Maven alive so long? He was a good bargaining chip but he is known to weasel his way out of tough situations. One of which is him pushing Mare and Titon to use their lightening to spark his flames.
All in all I really did enjoy this book. I hope it’s not the end for the Scarlet Guard and Mare and Cal’a story. There are a lot of unanswered questions. Will they make it through rebuilding? What happened to the Lakelanders? Will Piedmont and other surrounding countries try their luck invading Norta?
Crossing my fingers that this isn’t truly the end. Rise, red as he dawn

Part of me was thrilled with how this ended. The other part has a broken heart. I recognize that we can’t always have the ending we want... BUT MAN I WANTED THE ENDING I WANTED!!!! 😭😭😭

This was so unsatisfying for me. It genuinely made me upset I had read the series at all. I had high expectations for Mare and Cal, and their ending was brutal. For two people to suffer so much and end the series still suffering and not even together??? I’m all for personal growth but I need a HEA

I really enjoyed this series, but this final book was lacking the finality that I think it deserves. Hopefully there will be a novella to really finish it up.

The title is War Storm, and this book was just that. War after war after war. Unfortunately, way too long to get to the conclusions that were crystal clear from book 1. Enjoyed reading the series overall, regardless.

In this final epic novel. Mare Barrow has to decide whose side she will be on to defeat Maven, the boy king. She loves Cal, but he has chosen the crown over her, and now a war is coming to destroy an already split kingdom of Norta. The High Houses are choosing which brother they are going to stand behind. Mare Barrow has to fight for the freedom of Reds and newbloods alike, as well as keep her heart in tact. It took me forever to finish this read. I was not ready for it to end. Now that it has ended, I don't know what to do with my life.

A rather lackluster ending in the hunger games style. The popular style of just ending a book without any real resolution is quite annoying. It really just makes me think the author couldn't be bothered and just stopped writi.
