I love a story where all the loose ends are tied up.

Hmmm… I’m not too sure what to think about this. My rating might change a lot.

Bel is unlikable which makes her interesting. Bel and Ash’s relationship was cute but also a lil sad like… Ash stand up my guy 😭

After reading all Holly’s other books, a lot of this book felt predictable. I didn’t guess the main reveal but it didn’t shock me either. I liked some parts, Ash was fun, but I just didn’t vibe with a lot else. Wasn’t the biggest fan of the ending, it also felt predictable.

Some of the plotlines, like the one with Sam, didn’t really wrap up in ways I wanted it to. I dont think they had enough attention to completely support the plot.

I get that Holly really likes grey morality in her books, but it’s just so strange here. There’s no real nuance to Charlie, Jeff and Sherry. The ending says that they’re all monsters and deserve to lose their family, but I don’t know if I was sold on it. Charlie being a completely evil man just didn’t hit for me and it was again, predictable

Why do all her series have secretly evil parents… I need Holly to have newer ideas. I know she’s creative and can do it but idk why it always loops back to psycho parents

Maybe my expectations were raised a little too high after Five Survive? That got me feeling thrilled but I didn’t really feel it with this one. This one just didn’t hit for me.

She said in her acknowledgments that this is her best book… I disagree.

"The Reappearance of Rachel Price" by Holly Jackson is a thrilling ride from start to finish, with enough twists and turns to keep any reader on the edge of their seat. From the very first page, the author's skilful storytelling kept me gripped, making it nearly impossible to put the book down.
One of the standout elements of this novel is the well-developed characters. Each character feels fully realized, with their own unique backgrounds, motivations, and complexities. Rachel Price herself is an enigma, a mystery that unravels slowly and tantalizingly throughout the book. The other characters like Bel, Carter, Charlie etc are vividly drawn, making their interactions and relationships rich and engaging.
The plot is masterfully constructed, filled with unexpected twists that kept me guessing. Just when I thought I had a handle on where the story was going, the author threw in a curveball that sent me reeling. However, despite the many surprises, I did sort of guess what had happened to Rachel before the big reveal. This predictability in the central mystery is why I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5. It slightly dulled the impact of the climax, though it didn't significantly diminish my overall enjoyment of the book.
Even with this minor flaw, "The Reappearance of Rachel Price" is a compelling read that I would highly recommend to others. Holly Jackson has crafted a tale that is both thrilling and emotionally resonant, with characters that linger in the mind long after the final page is turned. If you're looking for a mystery that will keep you hooked and make you think, this book is definitely worth your time. Holly Jackson you have done it again!
