I am teetering between three and four stars for What If. The first half didn't grab me like I like books to do. It was good, just boring. The second half of the book grabbed me and held me until the end. Briar and Arrow's story was a whirlwind to say the least. I fell for Killian and would love to have a story on his life!!

What If is one of those books that starts off with a fast paced back story where everything that can go wrong, does. I mean, it was almost ridiculous how Briar and Arrow were never brave enough to show their true feelings! Yet it did make for an awesome drama filled ending.

---> side note: Where in the world did the author come up with the names Arrow and Briar? They are so unique and really cool. <---

When being first introduced to the story, it was really easy to sympathize with Briar and have a hate-crush on Arrow. Briar was this insecure teenager who’s love of her life was going out with her best friend. Arrow was supposed to be Briar’s best friend, yet he never stepped up to the plate and shared his feelings…. in other words the first half of the book was a back and forth view of Briar and Arrow’s confusion and longing.

Then Arrow left for the marines and their relationship wasn’t that great. It was so frustrating how they were still avoiding each other! They were both so pig-headed and stubborn that they were ruining their lives, and other around them!

--->side note: By this times I was almost throwing my nook against the wall with how good the drama was! This book was just one traumatic event after the otherSmile <---

By the end of the book so much had happened and I connected with the characters so strongly (even when I wanted to punch them in the face – no joke), that I was emotionally tired after finishing the last sentence. I FREAKING loved how the book ended and I can not wait to read more emotionally stressing books by this author!

Wow...I just finished What If and I am still thinking about all of the dynamics that made this book. Bayli is such a talent with words. I could see exactly what she was portraying as she molded the characters and formed the story. I absolutely loved this second chance romance, and boy was it a second chance romance! What If revolves around so many different issues of life and Bayli pulled it off magnificently! I adored Briar and Arrow! Their struggles were gut wrenching and had me feeling exactly what they were going through. ***SPOILER ALERT*** I was beyond happy that they got their happily ever after, because a couple of times there I was wondering if they actually would. Great job, Bayli! 5 stars for me!
