Beautifully written book. It’s political, portrays a female psychopath so well and really makes you feel connected with her. Not only are each and every character so interesting in their own way, each shows their flaws so well.

As distasteful of a novel as going to a slaughterhouse to see where your steak comes from, it is still a compelling character study about the worst person to serve at any fine dining establishment.

The writing captured the pretention of the writers career in food journalism. As most people who eat with their eyes I feel like I could have been more excited about the storytelling in a visual format like a movie or TV show. Living in the head of the main character didn't give us the space to empathize with her nor the distance to understand the charisma that must have existed to allow her to move through the world as she did. A third perspective would have really served.

This was a really fun read, however the main character is (due to her nature) someone I find intensely unlikeable. The description is fun and wild, and full of gore and torrid sex. I personally dont enjoy constant discussion of genitals outside of smut, and this book had a lot of reflections on genitalia (but this lines up well with the main character). 
I'm a vegetarian, and this book at least intrigued me with all the meat and recipe talk. Definitely made me hungry.

The narrator was so frustrating and annoying. The further I got into the book the more frustrated I got. The author did a fantastic job depicting the mind of a serial killer, but it just wasn’t for me. It was too long and detailed and at times a bit too gory.

The writing style made the first few chapters hard to get through, but I think it was a deliberate choice to add character to the narration. After awhile it becomes more bearable but it persists throughout the book. I found the main character unlikable and frustrating.

The last 25% of the book was very gripping and intriguing. Unfortunately most of the book had me checking my progress and seeing if it was over yet. Im usually a sucker for a gruesome murder which this book technically delivers but, the descriptions of literally anything and everything take up most of the book. Its almost repetitive and it took a lot of self control not to skim the book. Plus the amount of times Dorothy was just like "oh yeah this happened anyways back to this food" was annoying as fuck.

This book is not for everybody and the main character is a narcissist woman but you may have a soft spot for her because she is funny. Anyways, I was so mad at her towards the ending but I have zero problems with cannibalism in fiction. The book is funny and simple and I loved the foods descriptions.

A comic horror novel written as a cannibal food critic's memoir, reminiscent in ways of American Psycho, darkly funny in places and deeply off-putting in others. Very vivid writing style and truly excellent food descriptions were a delight to me, but my reading experience was somewhat marred by the book's reputation as a feminist girlboss-type story, especially when considering the fact that the protagonist (who, don't get me wrong, is as entertaining as they come, but most certainly not a girlboss in my mind) actively commits a hate crime.
