I realized near the end that this is really a story about becoming a mother - not the physical process of giving birth, but the transformation after into a different kind of person.

Kate Williams writes very well and has created a believable futuristic world. The mystery was good and worked. However, Lou's thoughts, the descriptions, and insights into the human condition made the book worth reading.

"People love dead women."
I was so invested in finding out the truth. And then the truth happened and I felt disappointed. Lmao. What was that??

An interesting read that was written from a perspective and in a style that I have not read before. I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending, but it was a good read
