I graphic novel was fine, it was action packed and the pace of the plot okay. I like the characters to be bit more flash out.

I'm not entirely sure what to make of Spill Zone. It is about Addie, who rides into where a nuclear spill destroyed a town called "Po Town" (what used to be Poughkeepsie) and photographs what is left and growing in the Spill Zone. She sells her photos to support her little sister (who has a stuffed bear that seems to be possessed by something from the Spill Zone) because their parents were in Po Town when whatever happened happened. It is never really clear what exactly happened to the town. Addie gets a million dollar offer from one of the collectors who buy her art and takes it hoping that this will be the last time that she has to go in to the zone, but based on the drawings in this graphic novel, it seems that this may not be the last time she visits the Zone.
I really liked the drawings in this graphic novel as they help you to really see what and how this town was destroyed. It reminded me of a downplayed Resident Evil or Silent Hill-just as creepy, but with more conspiracy behind it. The government (or someone else) brings in a Korean boy-but the reader is never really told why other than to show that he has been touched by the nuclear radiation and wants to meet Addie, which makes there seem like there is much more going on then we are told. The book ends on a cliffhanger, which was annoying because there are still so many questions to be answered. Overall, I gave it 4 stars because it kept my attention and the drawings really save it from being lame.

Lacking the funds to provide for them both, Addie constantly travels down to the Spill Zone to take pictures for clients of the various creatures and buildings that now habitat the restricted area. After a buyer comes forward and offers her something she can't refuse, Addie must break all the rules she's so carefully placed for herself in order to obtain what the buyer wants.
The graphic novel is mostly focuses on world building at this point and explaining the rules in which Addie has created when she goes into the Spill Zone to take her pictures. The art and colours used really sold the 'creppy-ness' effect of the story. Vespertine, Lexa's doll is honestly so creepy... You're left with a lot of unanswered and open-ended questions so I'm definitely excited to see how the story progresses.

I’m sad this took me so long to get to, but also happy because waiting a whole year for the sequel probably would kill me. Scott Westerfeld may have found an even better medium to work with (which I don’t throw around lightly, because I love his writing).

This dystopian, Sci-fi graphic novel sucked me pretty quickly. There are lots of questions of what and why so I will definitely be reading the sequel when it is published. In the meantime, I should warn you--- it ends on a pretty big cliffhanger.

I wasn't a big fan of the art style but the story was great. That cliffhanger of an ending though...there's clearly so much story here and this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Super weird and I am so here for it. In this world, there was an accident; a really bad one. Now under isolation, the the spill zone is home to weird creatures, floating possessed bodies known as meat puppets and objects that float and blow in the breeze when the air is still. Addie takes photos of all of this (except the meet puppets) to support her and her sister. Super risky business and it gets even weird when the outsiders get involved. Super funky semi post apocalyptic with what I think might be some fantasy. Definitely peaked my interest quickly.
