Graphic novels are my favorite way to practice my Spanish!
This one was quite good, some really lovely moments and some good stories and some weird ones too. I love her drawing style and the way she captures daily life but in an introspective way.
Definitely enjoyed this book.

This one has the benefit of not being autobiographical. The stories are, for the most part, weird and surreal and interesting and the art is much more confident.

Bell's vignettes are perfect: sweet, succinct, a bit manic and manically rendered. I look forward to her first book-length work.

gabriell bell is great at telling these slice of lufe stories that can make you laugh and cry at the next turn, then revel in the intricacy of human relationships.

Liked the pieces that were a bit fantastic the best...the first with the chair...or the one with the behemoth. All seemed to have a good sense of where to begin and end.

The art is truly lovely and many, if not all, of the storylines affecting in some way - the first in particular, with its overt magical realism, is memorable in the utmost. However, with few exceptions, the pieces tended to end just short of - well, something. I was frustrated, then touched, then frustrated (repeat as necessary).

When I started reading this I didn't realize that it was going to be short stories. I thought I was going to be about the adventures and misadventures of Cecil and Jordan in New York. I wasn't disappointed, but it did take some time to get my head around how the stories weren't exactly coherent. They were all snapshots of minute details and unexpected turns in different peoples' lives. The art style was simple, but effective. Overall, it was very enjoyable, though I do admit to entirely "getting" the stories in the second half of the book.
