I honestly liked the book a lot, the ending just kind of lost me. Really captured the angsty lesbian yearning that I love though.

there are a lot of things i loved, but there were a couple things that i think fell a little flat for me that prevented this from being a 5 star book. the shining moment of this book is the writing. i absolutely adored the writing. it was so lyrical and beautiful, but not excessively. i loved the way it portrayed grief, and thought it was done with a lot of care. but, to me the mystery part of the plot was just a little too predictable. i predicted who/why the person was doing these things pretty early on, so i felt a little let down by that. but again, the writing was soooooo beautiful that i would read anything savannah brown wrote.

Big big fan of savannah's brain/content, she has a morbid way with words I really enjoy, and reminds me a bit of Shirley Jackson's 'We always lived in the castle'. I read this two years ago and still find myself coming back to some passages, the characters and dialogue are beautifully written and i relate a lot to the protagonist's oftentimes macabre and unhealthy thoughts, overall a beautiful book; keep it up sav!!

Scary and beautiful. Reminded me at times of 'I Am Not Okay With This' (big compliment). Made me a little teary and made me scream silently when the tension was ramping up. All-round wonderful.

there are thousands of high school murder mystery stories out there and i think this one did a great job of standing out from that mass! there's some really strong factors that saved this book from being just another high school thriller.

first of all the descriptions of grief are so intense and well done in this book. losing a parent is a great fear of mine and this book just made that so much worse which definitely means it did it's job. even tho the book takes place over a period of only a couple months, i still feel like it really shows how grief is something you carry with you forever. also the writing style and wording is really beautiful and heartbreaking enough to make me cry at times.

secondly i really love how the main character is a lesbian. as a lesbian i don't mind reading straight books but especially if it's more romance heavy i just can't connect and relate nearly as much to those. this is the second wlw novel i've ever read and it's hard to describe but somehow reading about lesbian characters is just so healing. i also loved the lgbt side characters, especially leo (and his bf cause his 3 lines were funny) and i love leo and sydney's friendship so much

Not a thriller. Boring honestly. Plain protag. Nothing interesting.
