The Skeleton Key by Erin Kelly
I give this audiobook 4.5 stars
I listened to the audiobook version of this and l really enjoyed Helen Keeley’s distinctive narration it brought the story to life for me.l was swept along and it was a totally enjoyable and immersive listening experience.
Now to the storyline…….
We delve into two dysfunctional families whose lives are closely intertwined past and present because of a famous picture book called Golden Bones. It involved a nationwide treasure hunt and a group of bone hunters who found all but one bone. Now 50 years later it’s being rereleased with an accompanying documentary and an art show.
The legacy of this book is central to the story and everything and everyone else is intricately weaved around it.The vast array of characters seem to have dubious morals and l had no idea who to trust or what was going to happen next as the layers of secrets and revelations gradually unfolded through multiple timelines and narratives.l loved the addition of the social media feeds and Nell and Billies relationship made the story extra special for me.Expect plenty of shock twists and turns revealed throughout to bring everything crashing together for a brilliant ending.l recommend this dark, compulsive and entertaining mystery thriller. And l have to mention the beautifully illustrated cover!
With thanks to Erin Kelly, Hodder Books and Tandem Collective UK for my chance to join a great buddy read for this one.
