Wonderfully written book, needs a lot of imagination to write something like this. One passage in the book really got me thinking, where the boy talks about the life of grown-ups - "How could he be happy at the prospect of a life spent sitting down and talking? Or doing errands and going to work. And never playing, never really having fun."

One of the reviews compared this to Roald Dahl’s stories, so my expectations soared and the fall was crushing.
Not my favourite, but a sweet escape if you need a quick read with minimal mental investment.

I wish I read the version with the illustrations! Stumbled upon the version I do have in a used bookstore and was very intrigued. A beautiful little collection of dreams. Definitely Roald Dahl -esque, and it reminded me a bit of The Little Prince as well. A children's book written for adults, I think.

I remember reading this book when I was in junior high, maybe around 5th-6th grade. I searched on the internet for a story about a boy who imagined he was a cat, and magically I was able to find this book! So happy that I did-- now I just have to get my hands on it again!
