I have a hard time getting into audiobooks, it’s no secret that I much rather read the book. I’m a sucker for deals, Audible had a deal for this book and I took the plunge, and OhEmGee I am so glad I did. I was hooked instantly. The novel is written in *multiple* points of views, and I won’t spoil who’s, the main and most important character though is Beth. Beth is running from something, someone? Her past?
There’s so much to Beth’s story and I don’t want to spoil anything, BUT let me tell you this.
I THOUGHT I knew where the story was going, and I get side swiped HARD with the biggest plot twist!
The narration was fantastic, easy to follow along, great to listen to in the most dramatic of times.
If you enjoy a good thriller, this one has your name all over it.
Buy it on #Audible, find it at your local bookstore or your public library!
Worth. The. Read!

Wonderfully written, I picked this up at a thrift store not really expecting much but this book had me hanging on to every word. So many twists and questions throughout the novel with an ending no one could expect! Such a good, enjoyable read.

4.5 stars.
Dear Wife by Kimberly Belle is a gripping, suspense-laden mystery.

Beth Murphy's careful planning has finally come to fruition and she is on her way to a new life. After enduring unimaginable violence and emotional abuse from her husband for years, she is doing everything she can to cover her tracks. Having fully decided where she is going to start over, Beth begins a circuitous route to her destination. However, just as things are falling into place, she learns a woman from her hometown has gone missing. Frantic with worry and with her husband's malevolent words continuing to whisper through her mind, Beth wonders if she will ever be safe.

Back in Pine Bluff, Jeffrey Hardison returns from a business trip to an empty house. At first believing his wife Sabine, an enormously successful Realtor, is working late, he is not alarmed until the following morning.  Jeffrey and his sister-in-law Ingrid report Sabine's unexplained and troubling disappearance to local police. Fully aware the husband is always a suspect, Jeffrey does everything he can to divert suspicion away from himself. After poking around Sabine's computer, Jeffery makes an absolutely shocking discovery.

Detective Marcus Durand is assigned to Sabine's case and he is soon obsessed with the locating her. He is always one step ahead of Jeffrey and he delights in stunning his chief suspect with the information he has unearthed. With the case receiving intense media scrutiny, Marcus is under immense pressure to find Sabine and he will go to any lengths to find the missing woman.

Unfolding from Beth's, Marcus's, and Jeffrey's points of view, Dear Wife is a tension-filled mystery that is multi-layered and engrossing. The storyline is tautly written and shines a much needed light on how difficult it to escape from an abusive relationship. Beth's story arc is absolutely heartbreaking and readers experience her terror and doubts as she desperately fights to escape her abuser. Jeffrey is a reprehensible husband but does he have anything to do with Sabine's disappearance? Marcus is an experienced investigator but cracks begin to show as he takes extreme measures to locate the missing woman. With subtle clues, unanticipated turns and startling revelations, Kimberly Belle  masterfully brings this stunning mystery to a dramatic, pulse-pounding conclusion. An absolutely brilliant novel that I greatly enjoyed and highly recommend to fans of the genre.

Dear Wife by Kimberly Belle is the story of a wife who is looking for a fresh start. Told through alternating perspectives of a wife and husband with additional narration/context from an investigator on the case, it's figuring out where the wife went and who was involved in the disappearance. "Beth" is looking for a fresh start as she flees from her violent husband. She needs to escape, and this chronicles what she left behind and where she's gone since. In the other part of the story, Sabine has left behind a husband, Jeffrey. He doesn't know where his wife is, and the investigation hones in on him. There's some additional layers to the story involving Jeffrey, Sabine's sister Ingrid, and Sabine's lover Trevor. Marcus is a detective who is committed to doing whatever it takes to find Beth. I went in thinking this one might be like other thrillers in this lane, and y'all, this one was so much different than I anticipated. It was twisty with a really jawdropping reveal towards the end. I saw it coming a bit, but in a "WHOA!" kind of way. I loved the trio of narrators in this one, as they each helped you piece the story together, but also, it made you question who to trust, and what the real story might be. Thanks to NetGalley who allowed me to get an early look (that is now real-time for y'all) at this recent release.

I figured it out! It took me 4 chapters to guess the plot and I was right. In my book that means the plot wasn't at all clever, but who knows...

I didn't have much fun listening to this, maybe it was the waiting to see if I was right or maybe the book wasn't good enough to hold my attention.
