Jako někdo, kdo také bojuje s obezitu, jsem neskutečně sympatizovala s hlavní postavou. Ovšem i bez toho je text skvělou sondou do toho, že nikdo nežijeme jen jeden život.

The first part is terrific and very promising : a woman afraid of being herself, first dominated by her mother, afterwards trying to be what her husband expects of her, plots her own death and hides away, to be herself, finally?. No, just to escape the consequences of her double life. I just expected the novel to be different, follow another path. But Atwood's narrative is always good

I was told this was a comic novel, but for me, it wasn’t funny-just tedious.

I'm still not sure whether or not I liked the ending - Lady Oracle has a very Atwood-esque, 'did that just happen?' finale - but I know I very much liked this book. For me, Lady Oracle examined the life of a woman who adopted a different persona for each of the central figures in her life: mother, boyfriend, husband, lover; and as the story progresses, the consequences of adopting these different personas are reaped.

Not my favorite Atwood, but I liked it pretty well. It’s well-crafted and interesting, quirky and fun...but not as gripping as some others.
