Rad, weird slice of life stories. A few intertwine. The whole thing seems to be themed around "2000s people are aggressively normal/weird" in a everyone is strange vibe. Enjoyed it. Some very laugh-out-loud moments too.

This is a series of short stories told in first person by a variety of characters. Their lives interweave in different, vague ways, as they all seem to grapple with themes of aging or reflecting on modernity. The tone can often be cynical or detached, and sometimes quite witty. However, while I can appreciate these stories for what they are, I did not particularly like any of the characters, which made me feel disinterested in the random glimpses of their lives. This book was published in 2001 so I did read it with a grain of salt, however some stories were far better than others. It certainly has made me think for a while after finishing it, to try and “figure out” what the author intended for this collection. Ultimately I enjoyed these tales even if I was not completely invested.
