I found this book just as I was wondering how people fared, felt and suffered in post WWII Germany. It really must have been terrible.
I listened to the audio-book of this for the most part. The story was excellent, however I found the recording really "clipped" the words, and had a break between each word. The performance probably only gets 4/5 for this. John Lee does an excellent excellent job on the many and various accents and voices which definitely makes up for it.
