I really hate that I wasn't able to give this book five stars. It was so good, the theme was creative and extremely compelling, then in the last chapter it totally fell off. The ending was rather lackluster, otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

I loved this book! It would also make an excellent movie.

Wow.  What a ride!

It starts out almost comical.  I actually had to go back and reread the premise as I was thinking, "I thought this was to be a scary book?"

It gets increasingly horrifying as the book progresses.  The last 2 hours is just fucking chaos!  And the ending is so terrifying.

I liked how, towards the end, the doctor realizes that much of the terrible is truly just from the townsfolk themselves.

There were a few things I didn't care for:
What happened to Griselda in the end?  How did she fare?  I really wanted something more satisfying for her, but she just sort of fades out.

The reader, while excellent with the narration and men's voices was HORRIBLE for women's voices.  His voice is VERY deep, so when he voiced the women, I don't know if it was his inflection or just that deep voice trying to raise enough to voice women, but every time he did, he just made them all sound shrewish/nagging, no matter what they were saying.

Other than that, this was outstanding, and I really hope it gets made into a movie that stays true to the book.

I gave this book five stars not because it’s perfect, but because most “scary” books really don’t scare me much at all, and this book had me fully on edge and creeped out throughout. If you’re looking for an extremely spooky read, give this one a try!!!

This book was truly a wild ride. I can see the author taking me on a wild ride and I can also see his not so subtle commentary on humanity.

Ik zit in 2-strijd. Hij schrijft erg goed, maar ik vind het einde zo vaag.... dat ik er eigenlijk een erg onvoldaan gevoel aan over houd.
