⭐️4 for a prequel! Great brief intro for Promise and Pomegranates and the series. (The SEX scene is so hot especially the BJ part) I enjoyed the read!

Sweet Sin is the super short novella prequel to Promises and Pomegranates.

I really enjoyed this quick story to give context to what was happening at the beginning of Promises and Pomegranates. I did not have strong feelings about it simply because it’s so short and happens in a short amount of time.

It doesn’t stand alone of course and would be very boring if you didn’t plan on reading the next book/hadn’t read it already!

The context was great though and I loved the introduction to the characters. The added back story makes P&P so much better in my opinion!

I discovered this novella after reading the first book. You could read them in either order from what I recall. I loved getting to see more of Kal and his story. It is always a joy to see him and Elena interacting in whatever way they do. While you would not miss anything major if you did not read this novella, I think it is very worth it to do so. It's a quick enjoyable read with some of the characters we have grown to love! If you want to read this before starting Promises & Pomegranates go for it! You will have a bit more of an understanding of Kal going into that story.

It was interesting, so I’m intrigued.
This kind of age gap is not my favourite, but I’ll continue the series.

This prequel novel packs a lot of heat in a very few pages. It's a dark, mafia romance, which is not my usual genre and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. Well written and fast paced, it definitely leaves you wanting to roll immediately into book 1 of the series.

Sweet Sin was well and truly worth reading ahead of Monsters & Muses #1 (Promises and Pomegranates).

He's an assassin working for the Mafia, charged with guarding the Mafia Princess and protecting her innocence.

She's the Mafia Princess that can't escape from the expectations of everyone around her.

Together, they'll burn their world down.

When you should or shouldn't read this book:
✔️ If you came here for a sexy and dangerous MMC, you'll be happy.
✔️ If you came here for mafia romance
✔️ If you see a Trigger Warnings Page and immediately add it to your TBR
✔️ If you love an age-gap / inappropriate relationship, it doesn't get much better than this.
✔️ If you've already read Promises and Pomegranates and simply NEED MORE.
❌ If you came here for easy to like FMC/MMC - leave now.
❌ If you came here for a light fuzzy Hades/Persephone re-telling - leave now.
❌ If you are here for anything other than Dark Romance Vibes - leave now.
❌ If you wanted a one-shot novella with no further reading - Promises and Pomegranates is the rest of the story that starts here, so this will require further reading.

Final Ratings (Out of 5⭐ or 5): ⭐⭐⭐⭐
FMC: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

So, I’m stupid and I get that they do the whole “Hades and Persephone” thing as as description but originally hearing about Promises and Pomegranates I thought it was a retelling of that and obviously did not pay close enough attention to the description lol.
Somehow I was not aware of a mafia romance, which is fine, but Kal is older than Elena which would also be fine if it wasn’t explicitly mentioned how he’s her fathers FRIEND and has known her since she was a child. Some people may be into that, but I’m not. Feels predatory and like grooming to me. Not sure I’ll read the actual first book even though I own it
