Clever Little Witch has everything she needs to be a good witch... and she has something she DOESN'T NEED: a baby brother. When Clever Little Witch decides to turn her baby brother into a goldfish despite the fact that he's ripped out half the spell out of her book, she keeps getting it hilariously wrong. This is a fresh take on a sibling rivalry story with unusual illustrations that manage to be both muted and kind of garishly bright.

A little witch keeps trying to give her baby brother away because he annoys her. I felt bad for the little brother and the troll might be scary for little children.

I like that this witch lives on a tropical island among very colorful houses in a village. It seems out of place for a witch and it’s refreshing. She is clever, but she has a younger brother who drives her crazy. She tries to give him away and no one wants him. So, she tries to turn him into a fish and the spell goes wrong and eventually he is turned into a dragon. Eventually, she comes to be happy she has a brother when he turns back. The nephew was quick to point out that the boy still had a dragon tail at the end.
He told me that if he became a dragon he would set my hair on fire. I told him I hope he never becomes a dragon in that case.
I did enjoy the artwork and how different it was. It had an anime quality to it, but not really. I am not a fan of anime; I am pointing out it has an influence here. There is an East meets West feel that I enjoy. It’s a cute story.
The nephew gave this 4 stars. There was a troll and a werewolf and you know that my nephew enjoys monsters, so this was a hit for him. He even likes that the baby brother sort of gets the upper hand at the end of the story.

I love all of the places she tries to unload her brother! You might have the students write their own spell-book or finish the goldfish spell and then draw their mistaken transformation.

Clever Little Witch by Mượn Thị Văn and Hyewon Yum is a picture book about a big sister annoyed by her little brother. Both happen to be witches. Linh decides it's time to put a stop her brother getting into her magical stuff.
