The story of Michelle Obama, from her early life in a Southside Chicago apartment through the end of her husband's presidency. It is a story of her strenght and resillience of how she was able to climb from a poor Black family to First Lady of the United States. She is quick to name and credit those who helped lift and support her and her family, including friends, family members, colleagues, and support staff. She recounts both her and her husband's accomplishments and their daughters' lives. She does her best to be both realistic, talking about tragedy with due weight, while also keeping positive where she can.

It's taken me well over a year to finish this book with me dipping in and out of it between other reads. There were times I hardly touched the book, let alone read it. It was interesting reading and split into 3 parts, becoming me, her early life, becoming us meeting Obama and becoming more her life in the White House, the latter being my favourite section. Interesting reading, which unfortunately didn't have me gripped.  But lots to think about, which is what I enjoy about reading

An inspiring memoir about how someone can come from humble beginnings and end up as near royalty. I appreciate Michelle Obama’s frankness and relatable personality. She lets the reader into her inner thoughts and while it is obvious in some parts (especially toward the end) that Obama is trying to right some wrongs and tell her side of the story, the story she does tell is compelling and hopeful. Highly recommend to anyone who dreams of more. Whatever “more” means to you.

Michelle is an excellent narrator. This book made me cry several times. Super well written and very moving.
