I thought Farworld was very believable. And one of the things that I greatly enjoyed about this book was when Marcus and Kyja jumped to Earth, and Marcus showed Kyja the ordinary, yet mesmerizing for her, things in his world. The way he introduced Kyja to what a french fry, soda, or car was, was absolutely delightful to read.

It's not Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, but it is a good, solid, fun fantasy adventure. I was surprised just how much I liked it.

A wonderful fantasy about two kids, from different worlds, who together go on an amazing adventure and in the process learn about their strenghths (where they thought they had only weaknesses) and how those strengths can help each other. Meanwhile, they must save the world! They go from one "how-are-we-ever-going-to-get-out-of-this" incident to another. Very fast-paced and exciting.

This book was an amalgamation of various other stories. I could see hints of many other books as I read the story. At first that really bugged me, but the further into the story I got, the more original it became. By the end I was really enjoying it, and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. The characters annoyed me at first, but they also got less annoying as the story progressed. Anyway, it hooked me enough to make me want to read the next book, so that's something.

I would give this book three and a half, and I want to read the next in the series. I like the adventure aspect and am interested to see what happens next.

Pretty good book that has many traditional fantasy plot devices, orphaned children with special gifts, unknown parents/ancestery and the like. It is different from some others in that it deals with handicaping conditions in the two main characters, a physical hanicap for one and a magical handicap for the other. This was a descent start to what appears to be a four book series.

This is another of the great fantasy books written by a local author. For some reason, it seems like a bunch of the local LDS writers are getting known for their children's fantasy series. No, I'm not including Stephenie Meyer in that. She is LDS, but she's not a local. I mean like Brandon Mull of the Fablehaven series, Brandon Sanderson (OK, he also writes adult fantasy), Shannon Hale, Brett Helquist, Obert Skye, and now J. Scott Savage.

The basic idea is that Earth and Far World are like mirror worlds. Earth has no magic, Far World has no machines, but they are very closely linked. Now two children are the key to saving both worlds, but they can only do it by enlisting the help of the elementals to fight the Dark Circle.

The opening chapters were really solid. Marcus was up against some truly nasty folks on Earth. And I liked Kyra. But for a book called Water Keep, we didn't spend much time in the world of water. I was disappointed by that. The cover makes it look like the main characters will be spending lots of time in the water.

Still, it was a good start to the series, and I will give it another chance, mostly because I liked the two main characters.

A couple of my kids have read and really enjoyed this series and I finally had the chance to listen to the audiobook. I greatly enjoyed it as well! Nonstop adventure in a unique world with some fantastic characters! Looking forward to the next one already.
