Alex Verus would like a nice quiet life, but everyone seems to be unable to let him and he can't stand seeing his friends hurt and some friends are less human like than others.
This was interesting and it was also interesting how he learns as well about himself and about those around him.

It seems like Luna and Alex's relationship is the meat of this and I find it ... not to my taste, so I am ditching the series so it doesn't ruin my liking of the first book.

Honestly this one is pretty cringe with the sexism/misogyny, which I know was meant to show the emotional manipulation, but I cannot help but have second hand awkwardness with the situations.
