Such a fascinating insight into the big bank crisis by my main girl.

The book doesn't have much nuance, but I don't think that surprises anybody. What's cool about it is that you get a behind the scenes take on bankruptcy protection reforms, the TARP bailouts, and the establishment of Dodd-Frank and the CFPB.

This definitely has a liberal slant to it, since I'm liberal that didn't bother me but I did notice it. I really liked the look into Warren's life, starting from childhood until she became a Senator. I was a fan of hers before and am now even more so. I laughed out loud and I cried some too. I loved that she narrated this book, she did an outstanding job and hearing it in her voice made it a great listening experience - she's very expressive. It also was a good "outsider" look at bankruptcy and the financial crisis we're still suffering from. Fight on.

Elizabeth Warren is amazing, and is a true representative of the middle class -- which we need way more of in politics. Her story is nothing short of inspiring. And she's a dog lover.

I really didn't know much about Elizabeth Warren before I picked up this book, but thought I'd give it a chance. After reading, I feel like I want to go work for her haha. She really does want to stand up for the little guy aka the average American citizen. She doesn't care about your color, sexual preference, gender, etc - she just wants us all to be given, as her book is called, a fighting chance to succeed in an economy which wants us to owe owe owe. I loved this book so much, because it gave me hope that not all politicians are in it to be in the pockets of big banks. She may not have always said the right thing, but I truly feel like she wants to do the right thing for us always. I am so inspired after reading this.

Not what I was expecting, honestly. I'm a big fan of Senator Warren, and I imagined this book -- her first since being elected -- would be all about her economic views and the resulting political philosophy which together have made her so popular on the left. But she addresses these issues mostly in passing, and seldom with a fair explanation of any opposing views, which she largely dismisses as being paid for by the banking industry. This book is more memoir than treatise, filled with the play-by-play of Warren's political battles (and quite a lot of information about the dogs that she's owned), but lacking substantive policy discussions. Readers might admire Elizabeth Warren more as a person after reading this book, but it won't change any minds.
