When poor Timmy has a problem with his ear, George is furious with everyone for laughing at him in his cardboard collar, so she takes him off on a camping trip, where the others soon join her. As usual they get involved with some bad guys who are hunting for something hidden and the five and their friends go to hunt it down themselves.

This is the first Famous Five book I have felt fell flat with adventure, but I can't help but give it five stars for the nostalgia!

This was the 15th book in the series. And I can see that Enid Blyton was bored and just wanted to finish the series as quickly as possible, because the plot was pretty bad.

Probably because I am a grown up, I wasn’t feeling it to the core. But it’s a good and sweet story for kids and kid-at-heart guys to get into reading and stay in that phase. It’s definitely worth a shot. The end pages detail about Enid Blyton children trust, which I was unaware of before. I felt it’s a great way to make kids feel something, ask questions and start developing empathy. It’s beautiful 🩷
