The rhyme in the story reminded me of the old favorite "two little blackbirds" (and perhaps Fox used that as her model?) and was overall fun and simple, but lacked something. And why was one tree safer than the other?

Two little monkeys by Mem Fox and Jill Barton was a good read, I would recommend this book to children ages 4-8. The younger kids will need the book read to them, but as they learn to read they can read it themselves. In this book, there are two monkeys Cheeky and Chee and they are hiding in a tree and they are swinging from tree to tree to continue to his from something that is trying to get them! Once they swing to the cherry tree they are safe.

Reminiscent of the song "Two Little Blackbirds," this is a simple and sweet read aloud for young kids.

One of the things I like about a bunch of Mem Fox books is the repetitive use of words/language which can be helpful for young children.

Very simple plot with repetition of the two monkeys name. Would work for the younger crowd.
