I overall enjoyed this book. The upper-middle class family dynamics and the equal focus we get for each member of the family was really well done. It felt like what happens could happen to your unassuming next door neighbors.
The one thing I did NOT enjoy, however, was quite glaring. The introduction of the supposed stranger, Savannah, as well as the sympathy I believe the reader is expected to feel for her, was not my thing. I found everything she did uncomfortable and inexcusable, and the fact that she and Joy maintain a kinship after everything she puts the family through did not add up or sit right with me.
The story was good but that one big aspect was strangely discordant.
