Not better than the original text, but servers the purpose of conveying the moral.

Meh.

To be honest, I was a little confused by this one. At various times I couldn't tell if Santiago and "The Boy" were one person or two different people. I haven't read the non-graphic version, but I'm guessing it's a bit complex to translate well to the more visual format. I did like some of the philosophy in it, but I could have liked it better if it had been easier to follow.

"when you want something, the world conspires to help you achieve it."

the alchemist' remains one book needs to read once their lifetime and this graphic novel honestly gave it another dimention.

A Spanish shepherd sets out to seek his fortune in Egypt. Boring and full of platitudes.

This was a very faithful translation of the novel into a graphic novel. Some things seemed a bit more exaggerated, some funnier (the gypsy in particular), but overall, I think my understanding was better after having read both. The goddesses were a bit vavavavoom compared to the novel, more in step with graphic novel style, I'm afraid. I don't think I would have gotten the same depth if I'd read this alone.
