This play is both horrific and kind of funny in a black humour kind of way... Now, the real work begins - as I will have lots to do with this - an essay, a film-review and more.

tbh would have been soooo delicious had it not been for the classic shakespearian racism

Shakespeare in a Year, 9 of 37 plays: Are you a fan of revenge? Fathers killing sons? Dismemberment? Severed tongues? Rape? Beheadings? Hanging? Threats of infanticide? Burying people alive? Then this play is for you!
Titus Andronicus is Shakespeare's first tragedy. It's been hated on by fans and critics alike (T.S. Eliot once said that is the "stupidest and most uninspired play ever written"; Tennessee Williams called it "one of the most ridiculous" plays). It seems pretty clear that Shakespeare was trying to shock his audience by going over the top with the violence and gore. It doesn't hold a candle to his other tragedies.
