I started reading this for my Presbyterian Bible study and enjoyed it immediately. As I read further into the book I figured out why. The author is deeply influenced by Catholic/Ignatian spirituality. Her SACRED way is basically the Examine but for the morning.

I initially had mixed feelings about it but believe it to be more good than bad. An introduction to Catholic theology for those who may have a preconceived bias. The Holy Spirit at work and God calling all Christians to himself.

A beautiful book, meant to be savored and read through slowly. So many highlighted passages, so many wise and wonderful lines. I’ll be returning to this one again and again.

Part memoir, part devotional, Voskamp uses her own experiences to frame her discussion about God as our WayMaker. Her style is poetic and I always find myself marking passages I want to return to. A beautiful reminder of how God can work in our lives and how we can choose over and over to follow His way instead of our own.

Amazing. She weaves together her stories and faith journey/insights together well and brings a new perspective. Very real and wonderful, deep read.

It took me this long to read because I read along with doing the Bible study and then life has been super busy!

I’m not normally a big Ann Voskamp fan but felt a nudging from God in February to read this book…… and it met me where I was in life and was like walking each page for real because I was experiencing so many of the same things she had.

Her honesty, raw candidness about the struggles she experienced in her spiritual relationship as well as her human , were inspiring in their vulnerability. Her system for meeting God is simple, Biblical and makes you ask hard questions.
This is a book I envision re- reading at some point just to pick up all the details that I missed the first time. It encouraged me, comforted me, taught me, pointed me to the Truth. Intelligent without being pandering.

How much God loves us as we love our dear ones and our heart is stretched to love and be loved even more.
