Such a beautiful collection of Black women and girls being honest and real! I enjoyed my time in this book. My favorite stories were: How to Make Love to a Physicist, Peach Cobbler, and Snowfall. When Eddie Levert Comes just made my so emotional

I went into this book completely blind and had no expectations but WOW what a great short story collection. the author is concise and to the point yet manages to get you invested in each of the characters. BTW  the book is steamyy and I was not expecting that, the spice is so good. I love how it explored the complications of the beliefs that are taught in the church but conflict with who you are as a person and the goals that you want for yourself.

I saw a hardcover copy of this at Kinokuniya but didn’t want a physical copy at the time. I’m SO glad I got this on the Kindle though; what a collection of cool stories! I am by no means a religious person, but I’m always interested in when people do feel religious and connected to the Church. In this collection, I especially loved ‘How to Make Love to a Physicist’ and ‘Instructions for Married Christian Men’. The first had such a warmth about it and I related to the woman’s journey with self-love, whereas the second had such a clinical feel about having sex with men (which I found myself laughing at and really clicking with). A fantastic and fast read! 👏🏼

Every story was so well crafted with nuanced characters.  Highly recommended.
