Give me more Cassandras!  I love a self-sufficient heroine who brings a stick-in-the-mud duke into himself and gets him to open up. I did feel like the plot was a little contrived, and there were times it felt like there was way too much happening, but overall I enjoyed this paring.

The characters had the potential to be interesting (Cassandra in particular), but the book kinda fell flat for me. I hate to give it two stars because it wasn't a bad book, but my reaction to it can best be summed up as "meh."

I've adored past books by this author (writing as Zoe Archer) and I liked Alex's friends enough that I'll check out future London Underground stories.

A note about the audiobook: The narrator was great when she voiced Cassandra, but painfully stilted when voicing Alex. When it started detracting from the story I switched to the Kindle version.

I was determined not to like Cassandra. She fleeced the Grayson and broke his heart! She's a swindler but only out of necessity!. She's not willing to be a victim of her circumstances.

He was such a stick in the mud, a product of Society but you could see his emotions waiting to break free. I really enjoyed these characters and am looking forward to the others!

After speeding through the author’s previous trilogy, merrily tweeting all the reasons i adored them, i opened this only to be entirely underwhelmed.

The sex is still HOT AF. OMG I could read her sex scenes all day every day.

Beyond that, i felt here was a lot of slut shaming throughout the novel a la “at least she isn’t a sex worker!” As well as in the redemption arc of him saving her from *that* life.

I liked their evolution, that they helped each other be more fully themselves. But the ending also disappointed me in how they got around the whole a duke and swindler can’t marry each other point.

Lastly, i am 100% here for these male friendships. More please!

An excellent, fast paced romance. Loved the characters and the growth in them.

So many tropes running into each other at high speed and none of it really gelled as a story for me.

I've been a fan of Leigh's for a short while now (Having finished her Wicked Quills of London series) and was super excited about starting this new series. Good news: we hear hints of our old favorite characters without being overwhelmed by a largely unrelated casts, and plenty of fresh faces are available for this new session.

She keeps up the societal barriers between her characters while staying true to the turmoil in their hearts. We see the development and progress in them and root for them, even when we shouldn't.
