it’s always books with the silly little cartoon character covers that end up shattering your heart. what a feat of the genre.

Relatable and complicated characters, believable romance, a bit of spice...this story has everything! Just a very sweet story where enemies become friends ultimately become lovers. What's not to love?

Enjoyed watching these two go from polar opposites to slowly finding each other. Mild spice level goes nicely with the rest of the writing style.

Have you ever re-read a book and noticed how it always hits in a different way? The way that time and experience color what you take out of a story and what its various pieces mean to you? How critical it truly is for a book to come into your life at just the right time?
I started Beach Read at just the right time. So much of this book hit home for me. Everything - from the experience of writing to finding oneself in awkward situations to desperately wanting happy endings even when they seem out of grasp - made me feel so wonderfully connected to others at a time when it's far too easy to feel alone.
Hats off to Emily Henry for this lovely book on romance, writer's block, and perfect moments.

P. S. Additional hats off for Julie Whelan's narration!

"Sometimes life is very hard. Sometimes it demands so much of you that you start losing pieces of yourself as you stretch out to give what the world wants to take.”

This is partially my fault, I'll admit to that!

The last book that I read by Emily Henry - People we meet on Vacation- was a "so-so book". I did like it at first but then I lost interest. And friends-to-lovers is not my trope! And I thought that I was the first and last book that I would read by this author. But then Beach Read was published and seemed like something that I would like, so I gave it a chance.

To me, this is another "so-so book". I admit that there are some aspects where Henry's has improved.
Spoiler To me, Gus love for January didn't seemed so obsessive, bu there were some cringe parts.
However, just like in the last book, I lost interest.

I think that this will be the last book that I read from Henry!
