okay but for a story notorious for being shit, it could have been a lot worse. having said that, it really wasn't good either. first of all, i know it had to be cut short for production reasons but they could have actually filled out the bits of missing du lore with some other worldbuilding. also i was actually properly excited for the concept, because even though it's a bit of a naff title, i love when doctor who takes innocent, childish concepts and make them into something metaphysical, even sinister. but i don't think they properly used "scaredy cat" beyond just making a (very conspicuously adult acted) child voice giggle and chant it over and over. somehow the plot managed to be both predictable and intensely confusing, and honestly i just left it a bit underwhelmed. had it been a bit longer, separated from the patchwork of half formed ideas that it was, and better paced, it would have been a lot better. but oh well. on to the next one.

Uninteresting, a bit confusing, Eight sounds bored as hell, and while I love that they're continuing to hint that there's something off with C'rizz, I really wish we would get to the punchline with that plot thread, because I feel like it's going to be fantastic when it hits...eventually.

Upon a second listen, I dislike this story even more. It is so, so boring, though understanding where C'rizz arc goes, the pacing of that aspect doesn't strike me as so god-awful anymore.

I'm afraid Scaredy Cat didn't leave much impression on me (and I've listened to it twice). It is in keeping with the duller end of the earlier Eighth Doctor audios. Various conceptual entities get incarnated as personalities and the Doctor, Charley and C'rizz eventually clean up the mess.

Just terrible. If anything a worse mish-mash than "Terra Firma" or "Other Lives". It's as if they picked a title and tried to shoehorn a plot into it.
I understand that this was intended originally as a Divergent Universe script, but was pushed back when that line was shut down. One wonders why they didn't ust dodge that bullet and let this die.
Only gets the extra star for Paul McGann arguing about the nature of evil.
